VASCULAR RISK ASSESSMENT IN MPN
Vascular risk assessment in MPN as in all hematological disorders has become a new challenge
in medical strategy for this type of patient. Thanks to the impressive improvement of patient
prognosis in hematology disorders and especially in MPN, patient with CV risk factors are
exposed to a combined increase risk of developing CV complication. Hence MPN increase the
risk of vascular plaque instability by increasing the patient state of inflammation and cytokine
level which is known to increase thrombosis and plaque rupture. Therefore the actual
classification of Low risk and High risk patient in MPN based only on age and History of vascular
thrombosis event should be revised and adapted with the vascular risk stratification of the
patient at the initiation of targeted therapy or other strategy. To illustrate this challenge we
will present a case of patient with MPN and CV risk factors and how we can apply modern
vascular stratification and management to potentially improve patient prognosis.
